Peter R. Baronoff
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Peter R. Baronoff is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Promise Healthcare, Inc., one of the leading post-acute care health systems in the United States, which owns and operates 17 hospitals and two skilled nursing facilities. He serves as Executive Chairman of Success Healthcare, LLC which owns two acute care hospitals in California and Missouri. Success Healthcare, LLC also has a short-term acute inpatient behavioral health facility in California and a School of Nursing in St. Louis.
Respected and elected by his peers for his leadership, business and financial acumen, Peter served as a three-term President of the Acute Long-Term Hospital Association (ALTHA) Board of Directors.
Peter was elected as a City of Boca Raton Council Member for two terms, and appointed by his council peers to serve as Deputy Mayor in his second term. By virtue of his City Council services, Baronoff served as Chairman and Commissioner of the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) during his first term. In this capacity, Peter helped make decisions that positioned Boca Raton as a tourist and economic powerhouse for the entire state of Florida.
An active member of the Boca Raton community for almost two decades, Peter also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Boca Raton. Baronoff continues to serve as a five-time chair of the annual Rotary Club of Boca Raton Opal Awards recognizing community leaders and which benefits students that are in need of financial assistance.
Peter also has served as a two-term President of Woodfield Country Club and is a past board member of the Centre of the Arts, and Palm Beach County Health Facilities Authority. He was also appointed by the President of the University of South Florida in Tampa to serve on the Foundation Board of his alma mater.
Peter was named a “Pillar” of the Boca Raton community by the League for Educational Awareness of the Holocaust, and was selected as the Boy Scouts of America – Gulfstream Council’s “Distinguished Citizen” honoree and inducted into the Boy Scouts Court of Honor.
Richard A. Gold
President and Chief Operating Officer
As President and Chief Operating Officer for Promise Healthcare, Richard Gold is a seasoned healthcare executive providing leadership and strategic direction for the company’s post-acute care health system. This includes 17 long-term acute care hospitals and two skilled nursing facilities.
Richard began his career with Promise in 2005 as Executive Vice President of Hospital Operations, overseeing operations and growth through development and acquisition. Prior to Promise, he served as CEO for North Ridge Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and West Boca Medical Center, both part of the Tenet South Florida HealthSystem. Richard started his career in California as Associate Director for Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and has held various CEO roles in the Los Angeles area. He has served on various hospital association boards including the Federation of American Hospitals, South Florida Hospital Association and Chairman of the Board for the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.
Richard holds a BA in Economics from the University of California-Irvine and a Masters in Public Administration, Hospital Administration and Finance from the University of Southern California.
Chief Financial Officer
Serving as Chief Financial Officer, James Hopwood brings more than 25 years of experience in financial management. His industry experience includes a broad base of healthcare specialties including acute care hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, medical billing/business office and collection operations, physician practices and more. His functional experience includes accounting, cash flow analysis and forecasting, debt and equity restructuring, financial analysis, operational restructuring, medical revenue cycle improvement and accounts receivable valuation and analysis.
Prior to joining Promise Healthcare, James served as Managing Director for Focus Management Group where he was responsible for overseeing numerous successful healthcare restructuring assignments. James earned his Bachelor of Business with honors in Finance from Western Illinois University and an MBA with honors in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Charles Posternack, M.D.
Corporate Chief Medical Officer
Serving as the Corporate Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Posternack is responsible for overseeing all clinical practices and patient safety measures across the organization. Throughout his 30 year career in the healthcare industry, Dr. Posternack has held multiple senior physician executive and academic medical positions, including Chief Medical Officer and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Prior to joining the Promise team, he served as the Chief Medical Officer of Boca Raton Regional Hospital where his responsibilities included oversight of Quality, Case Management, Risk Management, Medical Staff Office, Research and Operative Services.
Dr. Posternack received his Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has won many prestigious awards including “Excellence in Medical Education,” given by the South Florida Business News; one of the “Top 500 Physicians in the USA” by Town & Country; and “Best Doctors in America” by Woodward and White.
Katie I. Kato, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
As the Senior Vice President, Human Resources/Chief Human Resources Officer, Katie brings over 30 years of experience in senior human resources leadership within the hospital & healthcare industry. Beginning her career at Promise Healthcare in February 2013, Katie is responsible for leading the corporate human resources strategy and working closely with the leadership and human resources teams at each Promise facility.
Her experience includes serving as the Regional Director of Human Resources for HealthSouth in Miami which included Doctor’s Hospital, 2 Rehabilitation Hospitals, Physician Practices, a Surgical Center, Home Health agency and entities (now part of the Baptist Health Systems), the Director of Human Resources for two HCA hospitals (STAC), Senior Home Care (Home Health, now part of Kindred), Parkway Regional Medical Center (STAC, now part of Tenet), as well as other HR roles/positions. She has also been the President/Director of Human Resources for The Human Resources Factor, LLC, which offers HR consulting to support the local community and small businesses.
Katie is currently on the Board as a Director, At Large for the Human Resources Association for Palm Beach County (HRPBC) and has served in a number of other Board roles with other Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) chapters.
She received both her BS in Psychology/ Business and MEd in Counselor Education/Human Resources from the University of Florida. Since then, she has served with several other SHRM Chapters including the NCFSHRM, GMSHRM, and Suncoast SHRM Chapters, and in various roles including Secretary, VP Membership, Non-Dues Revenue, College Relations, Programs, and Awards.
Presently, Katie is also a member of the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Association. She is Lifetime certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), by HRCI (which is a designation that is no longer granted; she has been certified since 1989), and now also holds the SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation.
