A Promise Healthcare Hospital

Welcome to Promise Hospital of Vicksburg

When you or a loved one needs a longer recovery period from the most complex of medical conditions, we are here for you.

Your treatment plan is directed by your physician and provided by an interdisciplinary medical team and staff. Our licensed clinicians, nurses, therapists and staff support your physician's directives 24/7. We include your family as an important part of the recovery process throughout your hospital stay to help manage your present and future healthcare needs.

Our hospital is like any other hospital except our patients require and receive specialized care and extensive therapy over an extended period of time. We are certified by Medicare and state licensed as a long-term acute care hospital for patients requiring extended hospitalization. Patients are admitted, with a physician's referral, from almost any healthcare setting.

Admissions

With a physician's referral, we admit patients from almost any setting
within the healthcare continuum, including:

· Physician's offices
· Hospital intensive care units
· Hospital medical and surgical units
· Rehabilitation hospitals
· Skilled nursing facilities
· Assisted living facilities
· Home

Our patients are admitted with respiratory or ventilator-dependent conditions, need advanced wound care treatment, or suffer from other medically complex conditions.

We coordinate a medical evaluation, complete insurance verification/pre-certification and arrange transportation with the goal of admission promptly after the admission call. Our admissions department works closely with a patient's physicians and case managers, as well as the other healthcare providers, to make a patient's transition to our LTAC hospital a smooth process. We accept most healthcare plans including Medicare and worker's compensation.

Our referral hotlines are open 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Call (601) 883-3265 for more information about Admissions.

Patient Handbook

Programs & Services

Cardiopulmonary Program

Promise Hospital of Vickburg specializes in comprehensive rehabilitative cardiopulmonary care for adult and geriatric patients with difficulty breathing due to complex and unresolved acute illnesses, as well as multi-organ failure, diseases, complications or severe injury.

Most of our patients in the cardiopulmonary program are transferred from an ICU or general medical and surgical beds in short-term acute care (STAC) hospitals because they are in need of a longer acute hospital recovery period to reach their full recovery potential.

These include patients:
• who are on life support and require ventilator weaning and management,
• with ARDS, COPD, neuromuscular disease, or chronic lung problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema, lung fibrosis, pneumonia, and lung cancer, or
• who are recovering from a heart attack or accidents.

Upon physician order, our in-patient cardiopulmonary/respiratory therapeutic services are provided by Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) on a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week basis, with diagnostic procedures scheduled as needed. RCPs - who include both registered respiratory therapists and certified respiratory therapists - work under the direction of a board certified physician and medical director to deliver quality cardiopulmonary/respiratory care.

Advanced Wound Care Program

We provide a collaborative state-of-the-art skin and wound care management program dedicated to preventing, as well as restoring and maintaining skin integrity for patients suffering from chronic, non-healing wounds.

We utilize both skill and application of wound care to treat compromised skin integrity and apply knowledge and understanding of wound care in an interdisciplinary manner. We also provide team intervention to promote and hasten the healing process.

Patients admitted to our inpatient wound care program are referred by a physician and have been identified as at risk for compromised skin integrity due to complex medical conditions.
